Privacy Notice
Version v1.3 · Effective date: 2026-10-28
1. Operator and scope
Blake Publishing, LLC operates startuparchbook.com and Book Vault. This notice explains our handling of personal information through the Site, accounts, correspondence, direct orders, and subscriptions. It does not govern a third-party retailer’s separate checkout. Contact: contact@startuparchbook.com; P.O. Box 358, Lake Orion, Michigan 48361.
2. Information collected
| Activity | Information |
|---|---|
| Account and Book I activation | Name, email, saved mailing address if supplied, optional telephone, password hash, email verification, Book I attestation, resource entitlements, accepted terms/privacy versions and time, optional marketing selection. Account-change records identify changed fields, prior and new names or login emails where needed for security and reconciliation; full prior profile street addresses are not copied into the account-change log. |
| Site and security | Session cookie, verification, reset and email-change token hashes, request times, hashed IP and email values used for rate limits; hosting logs may record IP address, browser, page requests, and timestamps. |
| Public informational page analytics | The public Home, Books & Editions and Register Your Book information pages use Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits and general engagement. Google may collect page information, browser/device characteristics, interactions, and approximate location. We do not intentionally supply account IDs, customer/order details, full payment data or individual Book Vault resource-download events to Google Analytics. |
| Correspondence | Messages, attachments and contact details you provide; our replies and support history. |
| Guest-first checkout | Before account activation, a prospective buyer may provide name, email, optional phone, selected edition, quantity, and shipping information for print orders. We save a pending checkout record separately until the buyer verifies email ownership. A secure guest verification token is stored as a hash; an unverified guest request does not grant account access, digital entitlements, or proof of payment. |
| Direct book orders | Original order contact details and shipping destination, account ID, edition, ISBN where recorded, quantity, price, quoted and verified shipping/tax amounts, payment-verification records, fulfillment source and order reference, carrier tracking, shipment and delivery records, exceptions, and refund/chargeback history. Order snapshots remain separate from later profile changes. The owner reviews these records to fulfill and reconcile orders. |
| Paid subscriptions, when offered | Purchased tier, start and expiration dates, order and access history, and support records. Subscriptions do not renew automatically. |
| Payment | Square transaction references, quantities and amounts independently verified and entered by the owner, plus refund/chargeback references where applicable. Card data is submitted directly to Square. This website does not collect full card numbers, card security codes or banking credentials. A Square return URL does not automatically supply verified payment information. |
We may also receive information from a payment, shipping, or fulfillment provider needed to resolve an order or fraud concern.
3. Uses
We use information to create accounts and authenticate users; grant and time access; process and fulfill orders; collect payments through a provider; send receipts, sign-in links, support replies, and service notices; handle returns, disputes, and tax/accounting records; protect against misuse; and comply with law. We use public-page analytics to assess interest in our public book information and informational registration instructions. We send optional promotional messages only according to the selection and applicable law.
4. Cookies, logs, and analytics
Book Vault uses a session cookie for sign-in and form security. Separate public informational pages (Home, Books & Editions, and Register Your Book) include the Google Analytics 4 tag, used to understand public-page traffic and general engagement. Google may collect page views and related browser/device information and may set or read analytics cookies. The Google Analytics tag is not installed on authenticated Book Vault pages, account screens, checkout/order screens, or protected-resource and download pages. Our own application maintains resource-access records separately. We do not use advertising pixels in these pages. Hosting systems may create operational logs. Browser settings or privacy controls may limit analytics, and browser settings that disable essential session cookies can affect account features.
5. Sharing
We disclose information as needed to hosting and email providers, and payment, shipping or fulfillment providers as needed for an order, including Square, ShipStation, postal/carrier services, and IngramSpark. The owner may manually enter the recipient’s fulfillment details into these services; the current ordering workflow does not automatically synchronize their databases. Professional service providers may receive information needed to support our operations. We may share information in response to lawful process, to protect rights and security, or in a business transfer, subject to applicable law. For public informational-page analytics, Google Analytics may process website usage information under Google’s applicable terms and privacy practices. Independent retailers and linked websites control their own information practices.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep account, entitlement, consent, order, correspondence, and transaction records only as needed for service, support, disputes, tax/accounting, security, and legal obligations. Standard email setup and password-reset links expire after 20 minutes. Guest order-verification links expire after seven days and may be reissued by the owner when needed. Records of link requests and rate limits may remain after a link expires for security and troubleshooting. Retention depends on the purpose of the record and applicable obligations; records may also remain temporarily in backups.
7. Choices and requests
You can decline optional promotional email without losing transactional messages. Promotional emails will include an opt-out method; you can also contact us. Account Settings lets you edit your profile and request a verified login-email change. My Purchases displays your own order records and available downloads. Editing a profile does not alter an existing order destination or historical order snapshot; contact us to correct an open order. When the order uses your account email as its default contact, later status notices follow your current verified account email; a separately specified order contact remains unchanged. You may restrict optional analytics through your browser’s cookie and tracking controls. You may request access, correction, deletion, or information about our practices using the contact above. We will verify requests as needed and respond under applicable law; some records must be retained for legitimate or legal reasons.
8. Security
We use HTTPS, protected account access, limited-use email links, and access controls for private configuration and resources. We work to limit the data collected and the people and services with access. No system is completely secure. Contact us promptly if you suspect account misuse.
9. Children and location
The Site is for adult readers and business users, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child supplied information so we can investigate. Our services are primarily intended for readers in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and in other locations used by our service providers.
10. Changes and contact
We will post an updated effective date when our practices change and give additional notice when appropriate or required. Contact contact@startuparchbook.com or P.O. Box 358, Lake Orion, Michigan 48361 with privacy questions or requests. See our Website Terms of Use.
